A Blushing Table Runner

I made the top for this about a month ago, on a whim and not knowing what I was doing.  Well today I decided I going to finish that Table Runner, and I did.  I used the raw edge applique technique (roughly I say) for the flowers and free motion quilted the rest.  I think it came out okay, and I have the perfect spot for it.  Once I had made over the spot I will repost.  Table Runner measures 9.5" x 44".

Tokyo Subway Progress Blocks 12 & 13

Well I am now completely up-to-date on this quilt along.

Look What My Husband and Kids

found today in our unkempt garden, 2 kg's of carrots and potatoes.

My husband Trevor got so inspired by free food he went on to pick our Tangelos and him and Dean juiced them all up.

So now we have carrots and potatoes for dinner for the next couple of nights but we also have Tangelo Juice to drink and Tangelo Iceblocks as well.  Yummy

Tokyo Subway progress

Well I am a little behind and I did manage to get 3 blocks finished today, so now I am only 2 blocks behind.
I have found that my seams are getting larger, so now I am going to have to resew the top 5 blocks.  Which I won't rush and do (although I have redone number 1) right away.  I love working on this quilt,  I am hoping to get blocks 12 & 13 completed tonight, once I've cooked dinner and all the other necessary requirements to complete.  Wouldn't it be nice to be able to sew when you felt like, not having to stop and start for the necessities of life, ho hum.

Block 6 & 7 I really like the orange and blue together with the white, a combination I don't think I would have ever liked,

Block 8
Block 9
Block 10
Block 11  This block is pretty damn cute.

My Daughter can Sew

My eldest daughter Samantha visited over the weekend and she was dying to get stuck into a little sewing project.  To my knowledge the only sewing she has done, was a poorly shaped pair of boxer shorts in High School.  I still have a little giggle everytime I think of them.  Anyway I was very wary, but ended up coaching her through making this cute little disappearing nine patch baby quilt.  She sewed quilt top and I quilted and completed the binding.   Also I love this fabric by Blue Hill Fabrics called Berkshire.

Well I unpicked

the table runner and quilted in a more neutral colour.  I looks so much better.  I hope my Mother in law likes it.

WIP progress

Well I added two more panels to this piece,  I think Its looking nice.

Blocks 1 through 5

Well I think that is the first row completed of the Tokyo Subway Quilt along  .  This is a real fun quilt along and what I love most about it is,  its a scrap quilt.  I have only been quilting a few months and I already had most of the colours blocks needed.  One thing that does fustrate me is no matter how many pins, how I try so much to piece all together perfectly , it never quite works out how I want it.  Oh well maybe i'll get better with the next 320 2" blocks.

WIP

The centre piece for this quilt was originally a pillow pattern,  but it was just too beautiful to stop there, so I decided to make a baby quilt for my daughter who is expecting next year.  I'll just add a couple of borders maybe and then raw edge applique and quilt it.

Unpicking

Well since I haven taken up sewing I have become quite a dab hand at unpicking.  Part of the course I suppose, but it is a little heart breaking, until you unpicked all your wrongs and joy joy comes washing back.  Here is my heartbreaker today,  it just doesn't work.  Not to mention that the tension on the back was loose.  I am going to unpickit and sew straight lines.

My Stash Cupboard

Take a peek into my organised stash cupboard. (formally the not very well stocked liquor cabinet)  I am only new to quilting, so I am still growing my stash.  If this is what it looks like after 3/4 months I wonder what it looks like after 1 year, I'll keep you posted on that.

Disappearing 9 Patch Table Runner

A Table runner made for my MIL's 70th birthday.  Fabrics used were from the Martinique by Moda Range, along with a solid white.  Pattern was inspired by Rachael Griifiths Disappearing 9 patch tutorial found here http://www.psiquilt.com/2009/03/disappearing-9-patch-tutorial-super.html

My Block 1 Tokyo Subway Map Quilt

This is My Block 1 Tokyo Subway Map Quilt

This is block 1 of 25 and is made up of 64 2" squares.  It was easy to sew together, but precise cutting and sewing is essential.  I taped a bit of masking tape to mark my 1/4 seam line on my machine to stop the guess work as my machine doesn't have the 1/4 mark marked clearly..

This is my box of precut squares that I have started to prepare.

I am so in Love

with these cute little shoes, pattern is from www.sweetpeapattern.etsy.com they are really quick and easy to sew.

I also starting making these bibs
You can get the bib pattern from here http://qfdcreative.squarespace.com/tutorials/boutique-baby-bibs-by-lisa-cox.html
